My name is Roger Ramsey and with Gods leading, founded Harvest Rescue Mission. This is my testimony: In December 2003, God began to press on my heart to open a homeless shelter and I began to question God if he was sure about what he was asking me to do. I just did not see the need for a shelter in Toccoa, Ga. One day I decided to ask my pastor if I could use the church van to ride the streets of Toccoa looking for people to bring to church, and of course he said yes. On February 8th 2004, equipped with sausage/egg biscuits & coffee, I headed out for the streets of Toccoa. I rode around stopping to ask people on the street if they wanted to come to church . I fed them and gave them a tract on salvation. The very next week David Simons joined me and has been with me ever since. In June 2004, I rented our first duplex. By November 2004, the mission had housed over 200 people and turned away 125 for lack of space. As of July 2007, we now have two duplex apartments and have seen some 60 souls saved by our Lord Jesus Christ. I thank God for allowing me to have part in his work and looking forward to many years to come. |
